On Friday, 13 March 2026, Maison Dawah welcomed reverts for an Iftar Gathering. It was an evening of learning, reflection, and togetherness, beginning at 17:45 and carried out in the essence of Ramadan.
Programme Highlights
Quran Exposition
Br. Sameed guided participants through the meaning and purpose of the Quran.
14 copies of Quran in different languages were displayed. (Arabic, English, French, Creole, Mandarin, Italian, Hindi, Spanish, Somali, Russian, Portuguese, German, Quran Braille for visually impaired individuals, Pen Quran)
He explained that the Quran is Allah’s guidance for all humanity, revealed in 114 chapters, and descended during Lailatul Qadr.
Reverts were invited to approach, explore, and touch the Qurans, making the experience deeply personal.
Talk on Ramadan & Islamic Values
Br. Ahamad spoke about Ramadan as a month of change and spiritual training.
He encouraged honesty, patience, and self-control.
He reminded us to avoid sins such as lying and anger, and to embrace Dawah.
He also highlighted the status of women in Islam, stressing that men—fathers, husbands, sons, and brothers—carry the responsibility of protecting and honouring women.
The event continued with Iftar, followed by Maghrib prayer in Jamaat, and concluded with dinner shared in fellowship. Gifts as sign of goodwill were also given to the guests present. The programme ended smoothly around 19:45.
Alhamdulillah, everything unfolded successfully by Allah’s Will. The gathering reminded us of the Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) words:
“Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 38)
Reflections and Feedback from Reverts and a Non-Muslim Guest:
The reverts expressed heartfelt joy, saying “Alhamdulillah, nous in bien content, nous bien satisfait in passe ene bon moment ensemble”. They were thankful for the opportunity to experience how Muslim families observe fasting and organise iftar/namaz/dinner, and described the evening as both uplifting and memorable.
There was also a non‑Muslim guest present, who warmly appreciated being invited. She shared how thankful she was for the opportunity, noting that the programme was very enriching and that she was “content qui invite bann non-muslim, mone gagne l’opportunité pour observer et vivre couma ban musulmans garde carême et casse carême.” For them, it was a rare and meaningful experience to witness the essence of Ramadan firsthand.
This evening was not just about breaking fast—it was about building bonds, strengthening faith, and being grateful to Allah swt for the blessings of Ramadan, Alhamdulillah.
Abdullah bin Amr (R.A) said, ’A man asked the Prophet Muhammad (saw), “What Islamic traits are the best?” The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, ”Feed the people, and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know.“′ [Bukhari]
In Islam, aiding the hungry is a fundamental duty. This moral obligation is heavily emphasized in Islamic teachings and is seen as a way to purify one’s wealth and soul. Feeding the deprived is a practical manifestation of compassion and empathy, essential principles in Islam.
In this spirit, Maison Dawah continued its program of feeding distressed families, and brought help to 25 vulnerable families residing in the following regions:
Cassis, Bel village, Pailles, Vallée Pitot, Plaine Verte, Vallée des Prêtres, Baie du Tombeau, Terre Rouge, Coromandel, Beau Bassin, Rose Hill, Moka, Vacoas, Quatres Bornes, Wooton and Saint Hubert.
Each family received :
A food pack comprising of basic commodities such as milk, rice, flour, tea, butter, lentils and canned foods among others.
A cleaning pack consisting of cleaning materials like WC detergent, dish soap, multi-purpose detergent, toothpaste and soaps.
The 25 food packs total about Rs 32,991.
The 25 cleaning packs total about Rs 7,917.
The value of each food pack is around Rs 1,319.
The value of each cleaning pack is around Rs 316.
The families felt blessed in this period of high food prices and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the donators and Maison Dawah upon receiving this aid.
Maison Dawah couldn’t organize outdoor activities due to Covid-related constraints for the past two years. However, as the number of covid cases has decreased and the government lifted most restrictions, we have been able to engage in some activities. One such activity was organised by Maison Dawah on Friday 25 November 2022. A group of reverts together with their children were accompanied to the seaside and for Jummah salaat.
Our first stop was Pereybere public beach. Two of our close collaborators who also give tuition to reverts at their residence in Grand Bay, joined us at the public beach. After setting down on the beach we gathered under the trees to listen to talks by staff of Maison Dawah on the following topics:
– Age of Ignorance and the advent of Islam.
– Brotherhood and respect towards the opposite gender.
– Doing actions with sincerity.
– Importance of prayer (Salaat).
After that, we had lunch before heading to Masjid Al-Ghurabaa (Pereybere) for Jummah salaat. Some of our revert brothers and sisters were impressed and grateful because it was their first time to attend a Friday sermon (khutbah) and salaat.
Then we headed to the Bain Boeuf Public Beach for refreshments and gift distribution.
As the program reached its end, the reverts and our two collaborators expressed words of thanks for this beautiful day of learning and brotherhood, Alhamdulillah.
