Ramadan Food Pack 2023 / 1444 H

With the approach of Ramadan, Maison Dawah embarked on its annual “Ramadan Food pack project”, which entails the distribution of a foodpack containing food items that a fasting family would need to start and break his fast (Suhoor and Iftar).

Alhamdulillah, this year we decided to help 100 families in distress, which equals to 100       foodpacks, value around Rs 1,200 each.

The distribution began on 24.03.2023 (1st Ramadan 1444 H).

The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, “Give food to the hungry, pay a visit to the sick and set free the one in captivity (by paying his ransom).” – Sahih Bukhari

A day out with the reverts

Maison Dawah couldn’t organize outdoor activities due to Covid-related constraints for the past two years. However, as the number of covid cases has decreased and the government lifted most restrictions, we have been able to engage in some activities. One such activity was organised by Maison Dawah on Friday 25 November 2022. A group of reverts together with their children were accompanied to the seaside and for Jummah salaat.

Our first stop was Pereybere public beach. Two of our close collaborators who also give tuition to reverts at their residence in Grand Bay, joined us at the public beach. After setting down on the beach we gathered under the trees to listen to talks by staff of Maison Dawah on the following topics:

–           Age of Ignorance and the advent of Islam.

–           Brotherhood and respect towards the opposite gender.

–           Doing actions with sincerity.

–           Importance of prayer (Salaat).

After that, we had lunch before heading to Masjid Al-Ghurabaa (Pereybere) for Jummah salaat. Some of our revert brothers and sisters were impressed and grateful because it was their first time to attend a Friday sermon (khutbah) and salaat.

Then we headed to the Bain Boeuf Public Beach for refreshments and gift distribution.

As the program reached its end, the reverts and our two collaborators expressed words of thanks for this beautiful day of learning and brotherhood, Alhamdulillah.

Dawah and Workshop at M-Kids Association

M-Kids Association invited Maison Dawah to an “Atelier des Enfants” on Saturday, November 26, 2022, in a villa in Pereybere. We responded positively, with four colleagues attending the event. We invited the 7-year-old daughter of one of our beneficiaries to accompany us because we thought she would enjoy meeting new children and learning from the talks.

The following topics were addressed by the staff of Maison Dawah:

♢ About Maison Dawah itself and an introduction to Islam, which includes the Oneness of Allah, the fact that Islam is perfect while Muslims are not, and the fact that Jesus is the son of Maryam (virgin Mary) and a prophet of Allah (swt).

♢ The significance and value of Islamic greetings, which include the rewards (Hassanah) we receive when we say ‘Assalamu’alaikum,’ ‘Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullah,’ and ‘Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.

♢ Lessons from Prophet Ibrahim’s (a.s) life [Qurbani] that includes:

– The birth of Ismail (a.s) at a time when his father was above 80 years old.

– Ibrahim (a.s) leaving Ismail (a.s) and his mother Hajar alone in the desert.

– Hajar running between the hills of safa and marwa in search of help and water.

– The reconstruction of the holy Ka’bah and prophet Ibrahim (a.s) obeying the command of Allah (swt) and on the point of sacrificing his beloved son Ismail (a.s).

♢ Importance of water in Islam where it was explained that all living things require water to live. It is Allah’s bounty that we have this vital means of sustenance for which we should be very grateful.

The room was filled with around 16 children alongside two adults from M-Kids. They followed attentively as the hosts presented their respective topics using engaging PowerPoints.

Maison Dawah puts great emphasis on the education of youngsters, especially so as we are required by Islam to “𝐀𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞.” – 𝐀𝐭-𝐓𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐡𝐢, 𝟏𝟎𝟕.

Project: distribution of sanitary pads – July 2022

Menstruation plays a very important role in a woman’s life. This phase begins around the age of 11 and ends with menopause.

Menstruation, also known as periods, is considered a natural process designed by God The Creator. Every month a woman goes through this phase of her life and the days of her period vary from woman to woman. That said, with the current spike in the prices of food and other basic necessities, at Maison Dawah we have realized that it will be very, very difficult for women, whose families are in distress, to maintain good hygiene in this pertaining to menstruation.

So, we decided to embark on a new project known as “Distribution of Sanitary Pads” where 324 pads (total value Rs 9,330) were purchased to be distributed to our beneficiaries among whom are adults and teenage girls. . Their preferences (in terms of choice of sanitary napkins) were taken into consideration and the distribution started well on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. It is good to know that we have provided the sanitary napkins for periods of time varying between 3 months and 8 months.

A reminder for the Muslim woman: she must maintain good hygiene. During the period of menstruation she should not perform the ritual prayer (swalaat) and also she should not make up for missed prayers.

Dawah and workshop at M-Kids Association

Maison Dawah was invited to an ‘Atelier des enfants’ organised by M-Kids Association on Friday 04th March 2022. The program was held in a villa situated in Cap Malheureux. The audience consisted of approximately 25 people where the majority were non-Muslim children of 9-12 years old.

Imam Arshad Joomun of M-Kids Association initiated the session with a brief comment on Br. Hossen’s journey and achievement towards Dawah and social works. He appreciated the fact that the young generation is taking the lead. Our first speaker, Sameed Damaree, started by explaining the activities of Maison Dawah. Then he focused on a short “Introduction of Islam”. He explained the five pillars of Islam and the six articles of faith. He emphasized the concept of Tawheed all along. The second speaker, Nusayhah Aumeer, seized the opportunity of being a few weeks away from Ramadan and explained about the blessings and benefits of this holy month. Fatemah Jaddoo was then given the floor and she narrated a story based on Luqman’s ten pieces of advice to his son. The children listened carefully. Lastly a quiz/workshop was held, it was facilitated by Muneera Doorga. It was an animated session. Gifts were given to winners during short Q&A sessions all along the program.

The program closed on a good note and staff of both Maison Dawah and M-Kids Association assembled for a group photo.

Al-Wadood; The Most Loving, the Ever-Affectionate

Among the names of Allah, He is also called Al-Wadood, the Most-Loving. His love encompasses everything. His love is pure and whole. We may gain human’s love and still feel incomplete. But the love of Allah is different. It completes us. It makes us shine. It makes us dependent on Him. And this dependency never leaves us shattered. It always makes us feel more and more secure. Fill your heart with the love of Allah so that you may flourish in other aspects of life.
