The Eid holiday, like other important religious festivals, is rich in symbolism and traditions. Above all, it is a time to share with family and those who are most vulnerable.

In the Islamic religion, the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrates the conclusion of a month of fasting. In addition to being a month of joy, it is a chance to get closer to God by assisting the poor.

Hossen Kurrimboccus, our interlocutor, states that he will spend Eid- Ul- Fitr with his family members.

Hossen Kurrimboccus has nurtured the spark of unity for almost three decades. “I’ve always been engaged in social activities. Today, I volunteer my time and energy to Maison Dawah, a socio-religious organization that aids the underprivileged.

Hundreds of people will benefit from ‘Briani packs*’ this Eid: “These contributions are given personally to those who need them most at their houses.” We deliver our briani packs* personally out of respect for the dignity of the most vulnerable. “We offer them as a present, not as charity,” Hossen explains.

Moreover, like he does every year, after putting a smile on the faces of people in need, Hossen will spend some time with his family. “On Eid, I want to dedicate myself to Morning Prayer. Then, for the Eid prayer, I will put on my finest clothing. Following the traditional embrace amongst Muslim brothers in the mosque, we will gather as a family to enjoy a meal. It is also not surprising that additional visitors join us: “My sons and I have a large number of non-Muslim acquaintances.” It is not uncommon for them to come to meet us on this day. Hence, we ask them to join us for dinner. As a result, we go for the chicken briani rather than the beef briani.

*Briani packs :- the food pack consists of essential provisions to celebrate Eid as well as to prepare a delicious Briani.
