Abdullah bin Amr (R.A) said, ’A man asked the Prophet Muhammad (saw), “What Islamic traits are the best?” The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, ”Feed the people, and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know.“′ [Bukhari]
In Islam, aiding the hungry is a fundamental duty. This moral obligation is heavily emphasized in Islamic teachings and is seen as a way to purify one’s wealth and soul. Feeding the deprived is a practical manifestation of compassion and empathy, essential principles in Islam.
In this spirit, Maison Dawah continued its program of feeding distressed families, and brought help to 25 vulnerable families residing in the following regions:
Cassis, Bel village, Pailles, Vallée Pitot, Plaine Verte, Vallée des Prêtres, Baie du Tombeau, Terre Rouge, Coromandel, Beau Bassin, Rose Hill, Moka, Vacoas, Quatres Bornes, Wooton and Saint Hubert.
Each family received :
A food pack comprising of basic commodities such as milk, rice, flour, tea, butter, lentils and canned foods among others.
A cleaning pack consisting of cleaning materials like WC detergent, dish soap, multi-purpose detergent, toothpaste and soaps.
The 25 food packs total about Rs 32,991.
The 25 cleaning packs total about Rs 7,917.
The value of each food pack is around Rs 1,319.
The value of each cleaning pack is around Rs 316.
The families felt blessed in this period of high food prices and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the donators and Maison Dawah upon receiving this aid.

*Le terme arabe “Khamr” (خمر) désigne le vin, et par extension, toute boisson enivrante ou substance intoxicante. Dans l’islam, sa consommation est haram (interdite) en raison de ses effets sur la raison et le comportement.

Menstruation plays a very important role in a woman’s life. This phase begins around the age of 11 and ends with menopause.
Menstruation, also known as periods, is considered a natural process designed by God The Creator. Every month a woman goes through this phase of her life and the days of her period vary from woman to woman. That said, with the current spike in the prices of food and other basic necessities, at Maison Dawah we have realized that it will be very, very difficult for women, whose families are in distress, to maintain good hygiene in this pertaining to menstruation.
So, we decided to embark on a new project known as “Distribution of Sanitary Pads” where 324 pads (total value Rs 9,330) were purchased to be distributed to our beneficiaries among whom are adults and teenage girls. . Their preferences (in terms of choice of sanitary napkins) were taken into consideration and the distribution started well on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. It is good to know that we have provided the sanitary napkins for periods of time varying between 3 months and 8 months.
A reminder for the Muslim woman: she must maintain good hygiene. During the period of menstruation she should not perform the ritual prayer (swalaat) and also she should not make up for missed prayers.
We realise that these days the cost of living is continually going up and needy families are finding it extremely difficult to feed their children two meals daily.
It was therefore decided, in a spirit of solidarity and compassion, to give some additional food support to a number of families. After carefully examining the files of our beneficiaries a short list of 20 families was drawn up.
In the week beginning 13 June 2022, 20 foodpacks (basic food items only, each pack worth about Rs 1,220) were distributed to these families.
The beneficiaries showed much humility and gratitude upon this unexpected humanitarian gesture.Locations where distributed:•Ward IV, Vallée Pitot, Plaine Verte, Cassis, St Croix, Terre Rouge, Trou aux Biches, Montagne Longue, Dubreuil, Moka, Coromandel, St Paul, Vacoas, Cité Richelieu, Cité Grande Rivière, St Hubert.
We also thought of cleanliness of the house of these needy families. Hygienic packs were prepared for three families with children- consisting of brushes, brooms, mops, soaps and detergents etc. Each hygienic pack is worth about Rs 700 – Rs 1,500.
The beneficiaries were pleasantly surprised. They were very happy too. Lots of thanks to our donators and wellwishers.
