Project: distribution of sanitary pads – July 2022

Menstruation plays a very important role in a woman’s life. This phase begins around the age of 11 and ends with menopause.

Menstruation, also known as periods, is considered a natural process designed by God The Creator. Every month a woman goes through this phase of her life and the days of her period vary from woman to woman. That said, with the current spike in the prices of food and other basic necessities, at Maison Dawah we have realized that it will be very, very difficult for women, whose families are in distress, to maintain good hygiene in this pertaining to menstruation.

So, we decided to embark on a new project known as โ€œDistribution of Sanitary Padsโ€ where 324 pads (total value Rs 9,330) were purchased to be distributed to our beneficiaries among whom are adults and teenage girls. . Their preferences (in terms of choice of sanitary napkins) were taken into consideration and the distribution started well on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. It is good to know that we have provided the sanitary napkins for periods of time varying between 3 months and 8 months.

A reminder for the Muslim woman: she must maintain good hygiene. During the period of menstruation she should not perform the ritual prayer (swalaat) and also she should not make up for missed prayers.

Ramadan Food Pack 2022/1443 Hijri

Like every year, Maison Dawah embarked on its Ramadan Food Pack project a few days before the coming of the blessed month. We wanted to ensure that our vulnerable brothers and sisters have enough food at home to start the month of Ramadan. 50 foodpacks were prepared (value Rs 960 each). Distribution to beneficiaries began on Tuesday 29.03.2022.May Allah (swt) bless us all and protect us from COVID-19 and other calamities.

Ecological catastrophe in Mauritius’s southeast coast: Maison Dawah assists those affected

Maison Dawah continues to provide humanitarian assistance. Being in the field on a daily basis, the Maison Dawah team saw that there is still a significant number of vulnerable families in need of food, particularly in light of the pandemic’s effect on economic activity.

Dans ou bonus pa bliรฉ bann pauvres

Maison Dawah, a humanitarian non-government organisation (NGO) with many years of experience, collects food items to assist families in need. Its goal this year is to help 1,000 households with food assistance.

Maison Dawah, situated on rue Labourdonnais, participates in a nationwide activity at the conclusion of each year. We collect non-perishable food items to distribute to poor families. Hossen Kurrimboccus, the organization’s president, explains:  “Maison Dawah was founded in 2014, and we have been collecting food items since then. We know that all workers will get an end-of-year bonus in December. We plan to use this occasion to arrange a ten-day food collection (non-perishable) activity in favour of families in distress.”

โ€œThe collection officially started on Thursday, December 20, and will continue until Sunday, December 30. The gathered food items will subsequently be distributed to Mauritians and needy families inย Rodrigues. We’ve set a target of preparing food worth Rs 800 to Rs 1,000 for 1,000 households,’ said Hossen Kurrimboccus and Maison Dawah is therefore relying on the generosity of our fellow citizens to contribute. “This food distribution will help reduce hunger among the poor,โ€

Although the primary mission of Maison Dawah is to educate people interested in learning more about Islam, Hossen Kurrimboccus adds that its members also engage in social activities. โ€œWe help families and other individuals who are in need. We have trained about 200 individuals to do this job,โ€ Hossen Kurrimboccus explains. He continues, “There is no religion for philanthropy.” There are no boundaries between us.

Maison Dawah needs you to assist the needy.

Help us help those in need.

While many of us will be enjoying the end of the year, many families may not be so fortunate. Therefore, Maison Dawah encourages Mauritians to be generous.

To ensure that all families have the greatest possible holiday season, Maison Dawah, a socio-religious organization, is conducting a massive solidarity effort called “Dan Ou Bonus, Pas Bliรฉ Bann Pauvres”.

As Mauritians will get their end-of-year bonus each year. We ask them to provide us with non-perishable goods that we will distribute across the island in areas that are afflicted by poverty,” says Hossen Kurrimboccus, the association’s president.

Collections of non-perishable goods will take place as from December 20 to 30 at the following location:-

1. Rabita Hall in Port Louis as from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Hunain Islamic Center in Coromandel from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

3. Istanbul Snack in Rose-Hill as from 9 a.m. until 5 a.m.

4. Nalla Store in Rose-Hill as from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Note that collection of provision will also take place in Phoenix as from 22-24 December from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The organization hopes to distribute 400 packs of supplies worth between Rs 600 and Rs 700 this year.

MAISON DAWAH FOOD COLLECTION- Food packs for 300 families

โ€œDan ou bonus pa Bliรฉ Bann Pauvres!โ€ is the campaign made by Maison Dawah in conjunction with its annual collection of food items, which will take place from December 21 to 27. The Hunain Islamic Center in Coromandel and the Islamic Dawah Academy in Phoenix are also on board to assist 300 households.

Maison Dawah solicits Mauritians to make a donation, no matter how small, to help families in need in December. Maison Dawah appeals to them to โ€œkeep aside a fraction of their end-of-year bonus for the poor”. However, the contribution must not be in cash. Thus, we encourage our compatriots to donate “non-perishable food products,” which will be distributed throughout the island.

In areas such as in Port Louis (Ward IV, Tranquebar, Vallรฉe-Pitot, Camp Yoloff, Vallรฉe-des-Prรชtres, Cassis, and, Citรฉ La Cure). Roche-Noires, Terre-Rouge, Grand-Baie, Cap Malheureux, Grand-Gaube, Poudre d’Or, Pailles, Les Guibies.

Maison Dawah had already prepared a list of individuals and families who are in need. Last year, with the assistance our compatriots, Maison Dawah was able to provide food packs to 250 families.

โ€œWe implore your generosity in order to contribute to this humanitarian initiative, and provide relief and a smile to these distressed families. May God bless and protect us all as we participate in this activity that fosters fraternity among us.

From December 21 to 27, three collection points were open:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rabita Hall, 28 rue Pope Henessy, Port-Louis (tel: 213-6377);
  • 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hunain Islamic Center, 32 Fuschia Avenue, Coromandel (5750-0735)
  • 2 to 5 p.m. at the Islamic Dawah Academy, on the ground floor of the Noor Hall Building (5812-4994).

Maison Dawah started operation in February 2014 with two goals: to teach Islam to Muslims and non-Muslims alike, and to assist the most vulnerable people.
