MAISON DAWAH FOOD COLLECTION- Food packs for 300 families

“Dan ou bonus pa Blié Bann Pauvres!” is the campaign made by Maison Dawah in conjunction with its annual collection of food items, which will take place from December 21 to 27. The Hunain Islamic Center in Coromandel and the Islamic Dawah Academy in Phoenix are also on board to assist 300 households.

Maison Dawah solicits Mauritians to make a donation, no matter how small, to help families in need in December. Maison Dawah appeals to them to “keep aside a fraction of their end-of-year bonus for the poor”. However, the contribution must not be in cash. Thus, we encourage our compatriots to donate “non-perishable food products,” which will be distributed throughout the island.

In areas such as in Port Louis (Ward IV, Tranquebar, Vallée-Pitot, Camp Yoloff, Vallée-des-Prêtres, Cassis, and, Cité La Cure). Roche-Noires, Terre-Rouge, Grand-Baie, Cap Malheureux, Grand-Gaube, Poudre d’Or, Pailles, Les Guibies.

Maison Dawah had already prepared a list of individuals and families who are in need. Last year, with the assistance our compatriots, Maison Dawah was able to provide food packs to 250 families.

“We implore your generosity in order to contribute to this humanitarian initiative, and provide relief and a smile to these distressed families. May God bless and protect us all as we participate in this activity that fosters fraternity among us.

 From December 21 to 27, three collection points were open:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rabita Hall, 28 rue Pope Henessy, Port-Louis (tel: 213-6377);
  • 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hunain Islamic Center, 32 Fuschia Avenue, Coromandel (5750-0735)
  • 2 to 5 p.m. at the Islamic Dawah Academy, on the ground floor of the Noor Hall Building (5812-4994).

Maison Dawah started operation in February 2014 with two goals: to teach Islam to Muslims and non-Muslims alike, and to assist the most vulnerable people.
